Top-of-Mind Thinking and Sharing
I am lifting this Blog Entry ENTIRELY from my son's email promoting his online entrepreneurship course material which many faculty use around the country. He is Doan Winkel and he teaches at John Carroll University in Cleveland Heights OH. Indeed, he is Director, Muldoon Center, The John J. Kahl, Sr., Chair in Entrepreneurship, and Assistant Professor of Management, in the Boloer College of Business. That is the Dad in me bragging! The course he and several colleagues offer is called Experiential Entrepreneurship Curriculum, EXEC. You can engage in the curriculum at https://www.teachingentrepreneurship.org/exec/.
My reason for "lifting" the material is the very important point of getting students engaged and the concept of "top-of-mind" thinking and sharing. At SIMIODE we are trying to do as Doan says, namely, "Put your course material into a context that matters for your students, and the learning comes alive." Moreover, engage students with their curiosity in the forefront; indeed, push their curiosity even further with possibilities. While some of the issues and details could be different for you in a differential equations course the broader notions and techniques could bring energy to your course. Read on and consider the possibilities!
Obviously, I am proud of our son's work, but I am also pleased to share it with you, the SIMIODE community, as it is SO relevant for us. Enjoy!
