This week in Diff Eq...
I am teaching Exact equations and substitution methods this week. I wasn't able to find a good modeling activity, so I won't be doing modeling specifically this week. Next week I will be doing numerical analysis, so I hope to find a good modeling project.
The textbooks I am using work well -- I am jumping around between the two (sometimes using both for the same topic), but I think it's good training for these students to get used to using multiple sources to get the job done. I have never, in the "real world", been able to rely on a single source to do a complicated task. My lectures are hopefully the tie that keeps the different sources of information tied together. And... you can't beat the price of an open source book!
